OPTOELECTRONICS RESEARCH CENTER UPB-CCO

SHORT PRESENTATION

The Optoelectronics Research Center (UPB-CCO), developed in the frame of
“Politehnica” University of Bucharest, was established for education, research,
and development of optoelectronics and microelectronics devices and systems.

“POLITEHNICA” University of Bucharest (UPB) is the most important technical university in Romania, with more than 180 years of existence and more than 20 000 students and 2200 academic staff. UPB has 11 faculties in almost all branches of engineering, organising graduate studies for 5 years Ph.D, 3 years engineers and 1 year post-graduate.

The Department of Electronics and Telecommunications graduates 5 years applied electronics, communication, microelectronics or physical engineers, the studies being accomplished in English, French or German. There are more than 30 research centres in UPB, one of them is CCO, completing research consulting and technology transfer activities in different fields of technical sciences.

VALIDATION OF UPB-CCO

Centre of Excellency in RELANSIN National Programme:
Contract 993/ 2001

Internal Evaluation in UPB - recognition of competence
Certificate no: 7315 / 12.06.2001
allowing to operate as Research and Development Centre in UPB until 31 December 2004

Member in the Laser and Electrooptics Society

Member of the Process Integration Research Consortium at ANIMMASK

CCO - MAIN OBJECTIVES

To ensure the technology transfer to Romanian industry of the most valuable results of the research from universities and companies

To participate to development and European integration of Romanian process engineering education
To the strengthen of the universities-enterprise relationship

To take part to the global effort of research & development activities, oriented towards the conception and manufacturing of Romanian products.

To organize graduated and post-graduated, master, and Ph.D. education programs, as well as inter - and multi-disciplinary research projects in the field of modern microtechnologies and nanotechnologies.
